Information and Content

One of the most common mistakes businesses make is thinking that their potential customers are visual creatures who are just looking at pictures or videos and can be enticed with glitzy landing pages. But what people are actually looking for is relevance and credibility. Visitors to your page are likely to interact with you and your product or service and stay longer on the page when there’s plenty of great information about the business and lots of really good and relevant content for clients to consume. 

Depending on what type of industry you’re in, the information in your Fan Page can be as formal or informal as you like. This can be corporate or creative, concise or playful, long or short. Just make sure that everything placed there is not only factual but likely to be really interesting to your customer. As an added step, you can also make your Fan Page as keyword rich as possible so Google and other search engine can easily find your page.

Choose A Great Name

Keywords are an important part of Facebook Marketing. When you are choosing a name for your Facebook fan page, try to use keywords in the page title. There is nothing to stop you from using your company name followed by a descriptor. For instance, if you have a company name such as ABC Painting, you could name your fan page, ABC Painting and Decorating Gold Coast.

Or if, for instance, your business name is already taken, then add a descriptive term in your Facebook name to differentiate it. For example, if Beef & Beans is already taken, then add a geographical location such as Alabama’s Beef & Beans or Beef & Beans Alabama. 
Choose your name carefully. Once set up you can never change it. 

Backlinks

Whenever you have the opportunity to use your Facebook URL, take it. There are several outside sites where you can place your URL. You can place it in your company’s email signatures or in the employees’ email signature. You can also place it in your official website or on other social networking site accounts. Create a blog, and add keyword-rich articles so that they can be easily searched by search engines. For maximum effect link your blog to your Facebook Fan Page

Within Facebook, you can tag related companies or contacts in a link, photo or post. This way, those potential customers who are looking for related sites can easily check you out through another Facebook site or through a competitor’s site even.
